Welcome to Skincare Mentor! At the moment, skincare is one of the biggest trends in the beauty industry. It seems like every brand on the market keeps coming out with new products, targeted to help you achieve that perfect, glowing skin. For me, it has really become a passion to find out what works and what doesn’t.

There really is no magic formula when it comes to taking care of your skin. That being said, there is a lot of information out there to help you on your way to your perfect match.

My personal goal for this website is to help you find what works. I want to guide you towards finding your skin type, what works for that specific type, and what products to stay clear of. I want the information on this site to be clear, easy to understand and not riddled with complicated terms that make your head spin.

You’ve only got one skin, so let’s take care of it!

My name is Melanie. I have always been interested in skincare, but up until three years ago, never thought I needed it, since I was still young and didn’t have to worry about wrinkles yet. I’ve always had quite acne-prone skin, and I thought using lots of products on it would only make it worse. During my teenage years, my face was always oily and there were always a couple of pimples popping up. After puberty however, things didn’t really change, and I realized my pimply, oily face might be there to stay.

When I was 19, I went to my first specialist store to find a face wash and a day cream to try to clear up my skin. The consultant asked for my age and promptly asked me why I wasn’t using any anti-ageing products yet.

Anti-ageing? I was 19! I ended up leaving that day with a face wash, toner, a moisturizer, and a lot of questions! I decided to jump onto the world wide web and find the answers to those questions, and a whole new world opened up.

As soon as I hopped online to find out more about how to take care of my skin, I felt extremely overwhelmed. There is so much information out there, and one brand seems to contradict another. Some brands use all-natural products, but when I ended up trying them, they just made my face look worse, instead of better.

I decided someone needed to navigate this maze and strip things back to basics. Which of these holy grail products have ingredients in them that would irritate sensitive skin, which products may be suitable for combination skin but have things in them that are known to clog pores?

Let’s face it, nobody wants to spend hours researching their perfect routine, spend lots of money on products, and then find out they react badly to them.

So, let’s go back to the basics. On this website, I will help you find your skin type, and the products that could work for you. I will be stripping back the fancy promises and expensive names, and together we will look at reviews, scientific research, and most importantly, ingredients.

Every product on this website will have an ingredient analysis, and based on that, you can decide if you think this would work for your skin. Not every product for your skin type will work for you personally, but if you know which components do and do not work, choosing something that fits your skin will become a lot easier!

If you ever need a hand or have any questions, feel free to leave them below and I will be more than happy to help you out.

All the best,
